Kindergarten FAQ

In August, the Webster PTA will host a new family orientation at the school site. This is a time for families with incoming TK and kindergarteners to get to know each other, and for the kids to play with their future classmates.

The week before school starts, Webster hosts a New Families Welcome and Kindergarten Orientation. Webster parents and staff are on hand to meet the children and go over classroom routines. Families will have the opportunity to view the classrooms and our principal will give a tour of the school. Uniform information and information about our school procedures will be available.

Yes, all of our kindergarten rooms are near each other on the first floor of the main building.

TK and Kindergarten students have their own playgrounds on the west side of the building, facing Pepper Drive. The gate on this side of the campus is locked at all times. All three classes have lunch and recess together.

Teacher information may will be available on the Aeries Parent Portal.  Class lists will not be publicly posted.

We recommend that parents walk their TK and kindergarteners to the playground as there is not a drop-off point. Please park on the street and walk your child into the kindergarten playground.

All children will be walked to the pick up lines under the shade structure on the north side of the parking lot. Children will be supervised at all times. You may either wait in the car line for driveway pick up or park your car in on the street and walk to pick up your child. Please wait outside for your child.

Breakfast is served in the cafeteria every morning starting at 7:10 a.m. Children may bring a healthy snack to eat during morning recess, around 9:30 a.m. TK and Kindergarten lunch time is 11 a.m. Students may eat lunch from the cafeteria or bring a healthy lunch from home.

Uniforms consist of khaki or navy blue bottoms and white, light blue or navy polo, dress shirt, or Webster spirit shirt. Jackets of any kind may be worn.

You can purchase uniforms at the PTA uniform sale before the first day of school, or at any major retailer.

We have a School Nurse or Health Clerk on campus 5 days a week. Your child will be evaluated and treated immediately. You will be called right away if the injury is severe or if your child needs to go home due to illness.

We have two after-school programs on campus at Webster.

LEARNs is our after-school enrichment program. The hours are from dismissal to 6 p.m., and students must attend at least 15 hours per week. The program is designed to complement the school day and includes homework help, enrichment programs, and structured recreation. The Webster LEARNs office is located in room 111.

Our second after-school program is with Pasadena's Parks and Recreation. This afternoon program is a drop-in play program, with homework assistance provided for 30 minutes daily. The hours are from dismissal to 6:00 pm.

We love our parent volunteers here at Webster! All of our classrooms welcome volunteers, and there are many ways that both working and stay-at-home parents can be involved. Please speak with your child’s teacher to find out how you can help in their classroom or at recess. We have a wonderful community of room parents, and all parents are welcome to sign up.

We also have an active PTA, and there are many ways to get involved in our yearly events, beautification days and other areas. Meetings are the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All visitors and volunteers on campus must sign in at the office and obtain a badge. Parent volunteers must also have a current TB test.
